Isle of Wight Nostalgia - Memories

From Jackie Stevens who remembers Bembridge and her boarding schol, Greylands Residential Centre. Jackie can be contacted by email at aws@eurobell.co.uk

In the 60's I attended a boarding school in Bembridge called Greylands Residential Centre. Is it still there and do any other readers remember it? We all lived in groups in small houses locally and attended what I seem to remember as almost a Manor House by the sea. There were students of all nationalities. We all went to a café somewhere in Bembridge to listen to music in the evening and there was a father and son who ran a local fish shop but I can't remember their names.

I seem to remember making friends with a local girl who lived on a house-boat with her parents, and I often used to go there instead of my lessons as it was so homely and I hated being at boarding school!!! I am returning to the Island for the first time at Easter 2002 , and would like to find Greylands Residential School
