I have just visited your site, and really enjoyed it. It brought back a lot of memories. I spent quite a few times on the Island in the 1960s; I remember Sandown Zoo and "Nyoka" doing his lion shows and snakes. I spent many happy night in the "Islander" on the pier, and there was another one I cannot remember the name of, I remember the "Ponderosa" too, Oh happy days. I visited the Island again in the 80s, but it didn't seem to have the same magic as it did in the 60s, so I haven't been back since, but who knows, there maybe a next time. I have one or two photographs taken in the zoo, so I can look back.
